In the Dr. Schmitz Dental Practice, we successfully treat patients with
periodontitis, both in the initial and later stages.
We diagnose the disease through high-definition 3D Cone Beam CT and a probe capable of accurately measuring the depth of periodontal pockets. The exam lasts a few minutes and it is painless.
If the pockets are not very deep, we resort to gingival curettage, that is, sanding inside the pocket that removes plaque and bacteria. If, on the other hand, the pockets are very deep, we perform periodontal surgery. Through periodontal surgery we can eliminate gum pockets and permanently cure periodontitis.
Once cured, we insert the patients in a prevention and hygiene protocol that aims to avoid the recurrence of periodontitis.
